Why Memory Care Matters at Summit Place

Nov 9th, 2018

According to the World Health Organization, “The total number of new cases of dementia each year worldwide is nearly 9.9 million, implying 1 new case every 3 seconds. The number of people with dementia is expected to increase to 82 million in 2030 and 152 million in 2050.”

Specialized memory care programming matters now more than ever. Alzheimer’s, and other memory impairments are ever-growing concerns, and until we find a cure, it’s our job to provide our affected seniors with the best treatments, care, and quality of life possible.

At Summit Place, we understand and embrace the importance of specialized memory care. We offer a positive alternative to those needing specialized care related to Alzheimer’s or dementia. Our Reflections memory care program celebrates each person’s life and contributions while focusing on positive everyday experiences that give meaning and value to the lives of residents.

We know you care deeply about your loved ones and their health, that’s why we are dedicated to providing them the most up-to-date and personalized services available. Our Reflections neighborhood offers the following benefits:

  • A secured living area with a family-style dining room, living room, secured courtyard, and individual studio, one-bedroom or two bedroom apartments, each with a private bathroom

  • A monthly Dementia Forum that features education about dementia-related topics. If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to Beth at 952.995.1286 or eschilla@summitplacecampus.com. All are welcome!

  • Educational programs, an on-site library with current information about memory care, and regular meetings for involved family members and friends

  • 7 day a week programming: A full-time Reflections Coordinator offers support to residents and families, along with an array of planned activities and outings. Residents can enjoy activities like meditation, weekly off-site outings, live music, and more!

  • A music memory program with a full-time onsite music therapist

  • A focus on health and wellness through personal training, weekly pool and gym time, and a variety of nutrition options

  • An enclosed courtyard for outside enjoyment

Our Reflections programming seeks to positively change the lives of residents living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia — and the lives of those who love them. Our goal is to help residents lead engaging lives they truly enjoy, all while providing them the support and care they need to flourish.

Specialized needs call for specialized care. That’s why we’ve created Reflections, and also why we’re part of the Struthers Parkinson's Care Network (SPCN). SPCN members are committed to patient-centered care and helping people living with Parkinson’s thrive. For more about SPCN, please visit their website.
